the blackbird postings
i think it’s time for another chapter in my life, and that means another blog.
with herghoststories was created during a time in my life where i had become vulnerable to my past, but now that most of the mayhem that had taken over my well-being is over i have created a new blog. my ghost stories are the stories of the past that are reflected on in the future and while i can’t necessarily destroy the past few months i can certainly take lessons from them. i invite what readers i have to join me on the next chapter in my life, blackbirdpostings.
thank you

currently
so one might wonder where i’ve been all this time.
well, i was employed at ULTA cosmetics about three weeks ago and ever since each day has been a roller coaster complete with sore feet and fragrant-filled pores. stocking, monitoring and helping customers is what i do (and stock the OPI but can’t touch it!). i’m super stoked to have this job, but am quite lonely at times as the routine is either 1. wake up, work, home, bed or 2. wake up, do something, go to work, bed. i hardly write anymore and the only thing in my head is the ULTA music on repeat. i hope to find the time to update soon.
jade is the new black half moons
messy. whatever. they were hot and they looked super sweet for a while before taking them off and putting on essie’s “pop art pink”. oh the underpolish i think is OPI’s “up close and personal”… i think.
summer reading list
i honestly haven’t read for leisure since march of this year. for someone who once spent her summers curled up with a pile of books, i have certainly lost myself to that pesky thing called college. reading has ultimately lost its fun, but this summer i will bring it back! here are some books i have been dying to read (or re-read) that i will hopefully accomplish this summer:
also.. who’s excited for Sex and the City 2 this week?!
essie’s “lapis of luxury” and a reprise
okay, so, this is the most gorgeous blue to have ever graced my nails.
i shouldn’t even call it a blue, it’s more of a blue-hued periwinkle. and because it’s borderline i couldn’t get a very accurate image of the color! but alas, i found a way thanks to photobooth.
the two pictures above were what i kept getting; a brighter “blue”, which is incorrect.
this picture is completely accurate (sorry i didn’t take it with the bottle! and it’s scuffed!) it’s so beautiful and it pairs well with my freshly dyed auburn hair. this is going to be a huge hit if it isn’t already, and it’s very refreshing to look at.
as for a reprise, i will do another chanel sugar-pulsion impulse shoot because it’s been getting a ton of hits and i’m not too happy with the pictures i provided.
ingo maurer
i would like to dedicate this post to the fabulous german designer, ingo maurer.
in my mother’s house we have several ingo maurer fixtures, including two “spocks” (ceiling lights), “birdies” (lightbulbs avec wings) and in my room is “zettl’z 5”, a fixture that holds love notes in different languages. Â here are pictures:
here are our two resident birdies. they are both low-voltage bulbs, and the wings are made of goose feathers. aren’t they sweet?
here is zettl’z 5:
it is japanese paper. 31 of the sheets supplied are already written on and it comes with around 49 blank sheets.
(if anyone can decipher what any of these say, please leave a comment! i’d love to know!)
and there you have it. in a word, his products are magical and deliver as being astonishingly simple yet incredibly thoughtful and imaginative. his work is featured in several museums including the philadelphia museum of art, the museum of modern art in new york, the cooper hewitt museum and the stedelijk museum in amsterdam. here is his website: http://www.ingo-maurer.com/
i highly encourage everyone to take a gander at his work, you will not regret it!
a lola summer
as noted, my birthday was may 6th, last friday. i came home this past friday to a drawer-full of presents from my mother, and she gifted me the most extraordinary fragrance/decoration/beauty icon in the whole world.
she gave me…
lola! no way! fantastique!
also, here are a few swatches of Jade is the New Black by OPI (which i highly recommend)
also i must share the birthday card my mother gave me. i personally found it hysterical.

quickie update
well, yesterday i drove from lawrence, ks to chicago. right now i am unpacking at my dad’s new place and moving after spending the night in evanston at my mom’s. it has been very chaotic, but here is a preview!
orchids in beer bottles
orchids in beer bottles
scenting the compound,
pungent musk marks the walls
and bed, dripping from each end
the night that i couldn’t stomach
and a shaken apartment for one.
